SILETZ, Ore. – The search for missing child Dane Paulsen has ended in tragedy. Authorities confirmed that the 2-year-old, who had been missing since March 1, 2025, was found deceased in the Siletz River late Tuesday morning.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Dane was discovered at approximately 11:13 a.m., about three miles downstream from his family’s property. The discovery followed an extensive search effort involving local authorities, volunteers, and specialized search teams.

Juan Heredia, a diver with Angels Recovery Dive Team, volunteered his services to assist in the search. After coordinating with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, he was guided onto the river by a local river guide and began searching areas that had not yet been fully explored. His efforts led to the tragic discovery.

Sheriff’s Office investigators are currently processing the scene in collaboration with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner’s Office. While the investigation remains ongoing, authorities have not released additional details at this time.

Sheriff Adam Shanks expressed condolences to Dane’s family and the community, stating, "Our thoughts are with the family, who are facing an unbearable sorrow. We are deeply grateful for the support and dedication shown by the search teams and our communities throughout this difficult time, though we wish it was under different circumstances."
