EAGLE POINT MAN DIES IN EARLY MORNING TWO-VEHICLE CRASH

KQEN News Radio

An Eagle Point man died in an early morning two-vehicle crash on Wednesday.

An Oregon State Police report said just before 5:00 a.m. the accident was reported on Highway 138W near milepost 6 in the Kellogg area. The preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound sedan, operated by 38-year-old Carl Gregory Miller, veered into the westbound lane of travel and struck a commercial motor vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Grant Crossgrove of Sisters, head-on. The sedan burst into flames on impact. Motorists on the scene extricated Miller from the burning vehicle.

Miller was declared deceased at the scene. The operator of the semi-truck was reportedly uninjured.

Highway 138W was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation. Fatigue is believed to be a possible factor in the crash.

OSP was assisted by Kellogg Rural Fire, Elkton Rural Fire, North Douglas County Fire and EMS, Bay City Ambulance and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
