UCAN’S WARMING CENTER ACTIVATED FOR MONDAY NIGHT

The United Community Action Network’s Roseburg Warming Center has been activated for Monday night.
Warm meals, shelter and resources will be available in the gymnasium of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 630 West Stanton Street.
Guests can check in on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Check out Tuesday is from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. with coffee available.

WINTER STORM WARNING THROUGH 10:00 P.M. MONDAY

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 10:00 p.m. Monday for mountain areas in much of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said an atmospheric river and stationary front will continue to bring impactful weather to the region through Monday. The snowfall accumulation will be unusually high east of the Cascades and over the Siskiyou Summit through this event. Snow will continue to accumulate into Tuesday, although the locations, intensity and elevations will change.
Heavy snow is expected on Monday with additional accumulations of between 8 and 16 inches.
The Warning area includes the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. This applies to the Siskiyou Summit on Interstate 5, Mt. Ashland, Lake of the Woods and Crater Lake. The highest totals are anticipated towards the Oregon/California border.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. People should delay traveling if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.
29TH ANNUAL SEVEN FEATHERS SPORTSMENS & OUTDOOR RECREATION SHOW STARTS FRIDAY

The 29th annual Seven Feathers Sportsmen’s & Outdoor Recreation Show, presented by Bi-Mart is happening this Friday through Sunday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
The year’s featured attractions include the amazing, “Wild Wolves of Yellowstone” live wild animal exhibit. The new “Off-Road Outpost” display will feature sand and dirt side-by-sides, off-road adventure vehicles, trailers and overland rigs. North American Taxidermy will have a display of their award-winning taxidermy.
New this year is the first annual “Capture the Wild” photo contest. Entries in three categories – landscape, wildlife and outdoor activities will be on display.
A number of fan favorites return including the Giant Fish Tank with demonstrations held every hour. New Douglas Timber Operator’s Sportsmen’s Theatre presentations will include a number of topics. Expert speakers include hunter and fisherman Jody Smith, fishing guide Dave Jones and others, who will cover the hottest outdoor adventure topics.
The Seven Feathers Big Game Room will feature life-sized mounts of a bison, bears and wolves in the Tour of Northwest Big Game animals.
Kids, young and old, can try their luck at tackling the climbing wall, catching fish in the popular live trout pond, using bows and arrows at the Curt’s archery range and testing their shooting skills at the National Wild Turkey Federation’s BB Gun Shooting Range.
Guides and outfitters from Alaska to Africa will be on hand to plan adventures on local and exotic waterways, hunting expeditions and photographic adventures.
Governmental agencies and advocacy groups will be represented.
Hours are Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults or $7 with a Bi-Mart $2 off coupon, which is good on Friday and Sunday only. Children ages 6 to 11 are admitted for $1 and those ages 5 and under get in for free. MYRTLE CREEK CITY COUNCIL MEETING TUESDAY NIGHT

The Myrtle Creek City Council will meet on Tuesday night.
Councilors will consider applications for the Budget Committee and the Planning Commission. The 2024 annual staff report will be given.
Councilors will go over their 2024 goals and consider their goals for 2025.
City Administrator Lonnie Rainville will have a report.
Other items are on the agenda as well. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers on Northwest Pleasant Street.

H.O.P.E. DRUG COURT GRADUATION MONDAY NIGHT

The 108th H.O.P.E. Drug Court graduation will be held Monday evening.
It will take place beginning at 5:15 p.m. in the Community Conference Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
A Douglas County Circuit Court release said H.O.P.E. Drug Court is an innovative program that promotes changes and helps participants acquire better insight into how to achieve acceptance while providing the necessary tools to build a support network, attend therapy sessions, develop coping mechanisms, achieve financial stability, re-establish family connections, maintain their personal growth and sobriety post-graduation and more.
The focus on the program is to help each participant with opportunities for personal growth, organizational success, societal development, and an internal shift that pushes them to reach a higher potential. Since the beginning of Drug Court in 1996, there have been 643 graduates. In 2024, the program saved the state over $4.5 million by having a local option for deterrence from prison.
The graduation celebration recognizes the hard work and personal triumph for each graduate as they have met the challenges and exceeded expected. Graduation projects will be displayed and discussed during the ceremony.

ROUNDING THIRD OPENS THURSDAY NIGHT AT UACT

Umpqua Actor’s Community Theatre has its production of “Rounding Third”, opening on Thursday night.
In this comedy, two Little League coaches, who have conflicting views on how to coach their kids, form an uneasy alliance for the benefit of the team. A season on victories and defeats forces the two men to battle over how to lead the team. The audience becomes the team as the coaches speak directly to them about competition, character, punctuality, and the importance of wearing the right equipment.
For anyone who has ever played a sport, coached, been an enthusiastic spectator, or the parent of an athlete, this is a show not to be missed.
The production is a two-person baseball comedy starring Bob Moreland and Brian Prawitz.
“Rounding Third” is on stage Thursday through Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. through February 23rd. Tickets are $17. It is recommended for audiences age 13 and up due to mild language. Tickets can be purchased at www.uact-theatre.com, or by calling UACT at 673-2125.
