KQEN News Radio

An Air Stagnation Advisory remains in effect through 12:00 p.m. Thursday for much of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a strong inversion and stagnant air conditions near the surface will trap pollutants possibly leading to poor air quality.
The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties, eastern Curry County, the Klamath Basin and parts of Lake County. It applies to Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford, Klamath Falls and surrounding areas.
Forecasters said poor air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems. Check current air quality readings from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality at: https://aqi.oregon.gov/
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FROM 4:00 A.M. FRIDAY TO 10:00 A.M. SATURDAY
KQEN News Radio

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4:00 a.m. Friday to 10:00 a.m. Saturday for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow is expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 24 inches above 5,000 feet are forecast with up to 30 inches possible over the highest peaks and ridgetops. Winds will gust as high as 50 miles per hour.
The Advisory area includes the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. It applies to highways 138 and 230 near Diamond Lake, Highway 62 near Crater Lake and Highway 58 at Willamette Pass.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes as well as weekend travel. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches as well as cause areas of blowing snow and limited visibility.
Drivers should slow down and use caution while traveling. Call 511 or visit www.tripcheck.com for road information.

KQEN News Radio

Douglas County’s seasonally adjusted payroll employment rose by 60 jobs in December, after a loss of 10 in November and a gain of 60 in October.
A State of Oregon Employment Department release said in the not seasonally adjusted private-sector industries in December there were gains of 60 jobs in private education and health services, of 30 jobs in transportation, warehousing and utilities and of 20 in retail trade. There were losses of 30 in manufacturing and of 20 in professional and business services.

Rooney said when comparing December 2024 with December 2023, total nonfarm employment increased by 190 jobs or 0.5 percent. Private sector over-the-year gains of 130 were seen in manufacturing, 50 in the other services category, 40 in financial activities and 30 in transportation, warehousing and utilities.
