Oregon Taxpayers to Receive 9.863% “Kicker” Credit After $1.41 Billion Surplus
Oregon residents will receive a 9.863% “kicker” credit on 2025 tax returns after a $1.41 billion surplus was confirmed. The credit will boost refunds or reduce taxes owed, with details available through the Oregon Department of Revenue.
SALEM, Ore. — Oregon taxpayers will receive a “kicker” credit after the state confirmed a $1.41 billion revenue surplus for the 2023–2025 budget period.
The Oregon Office of Economic Analysis announced that this surplus will be returned to residents as a credit on 2025 income tax returns, filed in 2026. The credit will either increase refunds or reduce taxes owed but will not be sent as a direct payment.
Eligible taxpayers must file both 2024 and 2025 returns to claim it. The kicker equals 9.863 percent of the 2024 tax liability, according to the OEA.
Oregonians can estimate their credit using the “What’s My Kicker?” tool on Revenue Online or find more information through the Oregon Department of Revenue’s website.
