Winston-Dillard Festival Association Plants New Community Christmas Tree at Civic Wayside Park
A new 15 foot Douglas fir has been planted at Civic Wayside Park to serve as Winston’s permanent community Christmas tree. Installed with help from Winston Public Works and Wildwood Nursery, it will be used for future tree lighting ceremonies starting December 6.
WINSTON, Ore. - A new tradition is beginning to take root in Winston as a freshly planted Douglas fir now stands in Civic Wayside Park, just behind Winston City Hall. The 15 foot tree, purchased by the Winston-Dillard Festival Association from Wildwood Nursery, will serve as the community’s permanent Christmas tree for years to come.
The planting was made possible through cooperation across several local groups. Dickerhoof Properties granted permission for the tree to be planted on the site, and the installation itself was completed through a joint effort between Winston Public Works and Wildwood Nursery staff. Their work ensures that the tree is securely placed and ready to grow into a long-lasting centerpiece for community celebrations.
The new Douglas fir will make its public debut at this year’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The parade begins at 5:30 PM on December 6, followed by the lighting at 6 PM. For many residents, this marks an important moment as Winston transitions to a living tree that can be enjoyed year after year.
Community members are invited to attend the lighting event, take part in the evening festivities, and witness the beginning of a new tradition rooted firmly in the heart of Winston.
