Winston’s main shopping center is getting a major upgrade. New owner Stipe Properties plans to invest over $1 million in improvements, including solar panels, new paint, flooring, and lighting. Sunrise Enterprises will stay, while new shops like a grocery store, bakery, and urgent care are planned.

WINSTON, Ore. — October 17, 2025 - Excitement is building in Winston as major upgrades and new businesses are on the horizon for the city’s central shopping hub. The Roseburg Receiver attended the community meeting Friday morning at the Winston Community Center, where Mayor Christie Knutson shared new details about the future of the Winston Shopping Center, news that many residents have been eagerly awaiting.
During Thursday’s Urban Renewal Association Board meeting, members approved $250,000 in funding to support the shopping center’s revitalization. The property’s new owners, Stipe Properties, LP, plan to invest over $1 million into significant improvements, with the goal of attracting fresh businesses and breathing new life into the town’s retail core.
Stipe Properties, LP is no stranger to successful redevelopment projects. The company also owns a shopping mall in Grants Pass, where they have carried out major upgrades and helped bring in a variety of new businesses.
Here is a photo of their current location:

What’s Changing
The facelift will be extensive. Planned upgrades include:
- Solar panels installed across the roof
- A modern fire suppression system

It’s also important to note that Abby’s Legendary Pizza and the Astro gas station, two longtime local favorites located adjacent to the property, will not be affected by these changes.
What’s Staying and What’s Going
Some familiar faces will remain. Sunrise Enterprises has renewed its lease and will stay in its current location, continuing to serve the community with its popular thrift store.
However, there are a few changes on the horizon:
- Now N Then Antique Mall is closing and will relocate to Myrtle Creek, where it will reopen with a different name in the Ray’s Shopping Center, operated by the owner’s daughter.
- The Rolling Goods used-goods shop will also vacate the property.
New Businesses on the Way
While plans are still developing, several exciting potential businesses are being discussed, including:
- An urgent care clinic
- A grocery store
- A fresh bread bakery
- A wine tasting room
- A donut shop
- A coffee or pastry shop
- A sporting goods store
- An art gallery
- A soup and sandwich shop
City officials emphasized that no big-box retailers are planned, and the focus is on locally owned shops and services that meet the needs of Winston residents.
