DFPA Confirms Six Prescribed Burns Scheduled This Week

DFPA has six prescribed burns scheduled this week: Sept. 16 in Oakland & Roseburg, Sept. 17 in Oakland & Roseburg, Sept. 18 on N. Umpqua Hwy in Roseburg, and Sept. 20 on Roberts Creek Rd in Roseburg. Burns aim to reduce wildfire risk under safe conditions.

DFPA Confirms Six Prescribed Burns Scheduled This Week

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) has confirmed 6 prescribed burns are scheduled across Douglas County this week, with three new locations added to the burn schedule.

Prescribed burns are carried out under controlled conditions to reduce wildfire risk, eliminate hazardous fuels, and improve habitat for grazing and wildlife. Officials emphasize that burns are only authorized when weather and fire conditions are favorable to minimize smoke impacts on nearby communities.

    Visibility: Fort McKay, I-5, Sutherlin, Umpqua, Wilbur, Oakland
  • September 16 — 2000 Strader Road, Roseburg — Start: 12:00 p.m.
    Visibility: Diamond Lake Blvd, Buckhorn Rd, Roseburg, Dixonville, Wilbur, Glide
  • September 17 — 2300 Goodrich Hwy, Oakland — Start: 1:00 p.m.
    Visibility: Oakland, Sutherlin, Rice Hill, I-5
  • September 17 — 3000 & 4000 Sunshine Road, Roseburg — Start: 12:00 p.m.
