DFPA Raises Fire Danger Level to High Starting Sept. 23

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) announced that the fire danger level across the Douglas District will increase to HIGH beginning Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 12:01 a.m.

The change is due to a forecast of above-normal temperatures, lower relative humidity, and reduced overnight moisture recovery, conditions that raise the risk of wildfire.

Public Use Restrictions Increase

With the new fire danger level, Public Use Restrictions (PURs) will also move to HIGH. This affects all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District.

The following activities will now be restricted to before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m. only:

  • Non-industrial use of power saws
  • Cutting, grinding, or welding of metal
  • Cutting, trimming, or mowing of dried, cured grass
  • Use of power-driven machinery for non-industrial property improvement or development

These restrictions are intended to reduce the likelihood of accidental wildfires caused by equipment or machinery during the hottest, driest parts of the day.

Industrial Precaution Levels Unchanged

DFPA confirmed that Industrial Fire Precaution Levels (IFPLs) will remain at Level II districtwide at this time.
