Douglas County 4-H, Farmers Co-Op to Host Market Goat & Swine Seminar

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Douglas County 4-H is partnering with the Douglas County Farmers Co-Op to offer a free educational seminar this spring focused on building successful market goat and market swine projects for youth involved in 4-H and FFA.

The “Raising Winners: Market Goats & Market Swine Essentials” seminar will take place Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Douglas County Extension Office in Roseburg. The evening will feature two sessions, beginning with Market Goat Selection and Feed Planning from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by Market Swine Selection and Feed Planning from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Organizers say the class is designed to help youth and families understand what it takes to raise healthy, competitive market animals well before fair season begins. Participants will receive expert guidance on selecting quality animals, developing effective feed plans, and planning projects that support long-term animal health and show readiness.

The seminar is open to all 4-H and FFA members and their families. There is no cost to attend, though registration is required and space may be limited.

The event will be held at the Douglas County Extension Office, located at 1134 SE Douglas Avenue in Roseburg. Registration is preferred and can be completed online.

The program is made possible with support from Douglas County Farmers Co-Op and Purina, who are helping provide hands-on education and resources for local youth livestock projects
