Brew Change for CASA to Raise Funds for Local Children in Douglas County

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

A community fundraiser supporting children in foster care is coming to Roseburg next week as CASA of Douglas County partners with Two Shy Brewing for a special Brew Change for CASA event.

The fundraiser will take place on February 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Two Shy Brewing, located at 1308 NW Park Street in Roseburg. The evening will feature designated benefit brews, a raffle, and opportunities for community members to learn more about CASA’s work advocating for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

During the event, patrons can order from three selected Benefit Brews, with 50 percent of proceeds from those beverages donated directly to CASA of Douglas County. The benefit beer lineup includes:

  • Skinny Summer Tangerine Peach Hefeweizen
  • Worth The Wait IPA
  • Reformation Red (Irish Red)

In addition to enjoying locally crafted beverages, attendees can participate in a raffle and connect with CASA volunteers and staff, who will be on-site to share information about becoming an advocate and supporting children in foster care.

CASA of Douglas County trains volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates, giving children in the foster system a consistent voice and support through complex legal and personal challenges. Organizers say community events like Brew Change for CASA help raise both funds and awareness for the program’s mission.

Community members are encouraged to stop by, learn more about CASA’s impact, and enjoy an evening out while supporting local children in need.

ADAPT ART OF PREVENTION YOUTH CONTEST RETURNS

Article by KQEN News Radio

Adapt Integrated Health Care’s Prevention and Education program has announced the return of Art of Prevention.

An Adapt release said it is an annual youth art contest centered on prevention, creativity and youth voices.

The Art of Prevention provides Douglas County youth with an opportunity to explore topics such as substance misuse, suicide and self-harm, program gambling or gaming, and resilience through artwork using the medium of their choice. For many young people, art offers a meaningful way to express thoughts and emotions that can be difficult to put into words. The artwork created through this contest not only supports personal reflection and healing but also helps spark conversations and spreads prevention messages throughout schools, families, and the broader community.

Youth in grades 6-12 who live or attend school in Douglas County are eligible to participate and may submit up to three pieces of original artwork. Submissions also must include a clear prevention or resilience-focused message and be received by the contest deadline of April 10th to be eligible for judging. Gift card prizes will be awarded for first, second and their place, based on creativity and the strength of the prevention message.

All submitted artwork will be showcased at the Art of Prevention Art Show on Wednesday, May 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Winston Community Center.
