New Additions Coming to Downtown Roseburg: The Majestic Theater and The Beckham Group

Downtown Roseburg is seeing new growth as two businesses prepare to open. The Majestic Theater and Big Picture Cafe will bring indie films and global flavors to SE Main St., while The Beckham Group relocates its real estate office to SE Jackson St., purchasing the building outright.

New Additions Coming to Downtown Roseburg: The Majestic Theater and The Beckham Group

As autumn brings change to the weather in Roseburg, it’s also ushering in a new wave of growth for the city’s downtown business district. Two businesses—one brand new and one well established—are moving into downtown properties.

The Majestic Theater and Big Picture Cafe

A familiar name is returning to downtown Roseburg. The Majestic Theater, first opened in 1913 and known for its crown-shaped sign, is being reimagined more than a century later. The new Majestic Theater and Big Picture Cafe, located at 431 SE Main St., aims to revive local cinema with a focus on community and storytelling.

Owner Sharon Lee Schwartz said the one-screen independent theater will seat around 40 people, with screenings planned for Friday and Saturday evenings. Unlike Roseburg Cinema, which features major Hollywood releases, The Majestic will showcase independent and international films rarely shown in mainstream theaters.

“The goal of it, what we really want to do, is build community and tell stories that might not otherwise be heard in this community,” Schwartz said.

The theater also plans to feature classic and cult favorites such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, giving audiences the chance to see them on the big screen.

Attached to the theater will be the Big Picture Cafe, serving both moviegoers and visitors throughout the evening. Schwartz said the menu will include standard concessions like popcorn and candy, as well as pizza, espresso, and foods inspired by international flavors. The business has also applied for a liquor license.

After four years of planning, The Majestic Theater and Big Picture Cafe is expected to open in March or April 2026.

The Beckham Group

Downtown Roseburg will also soon welcome the Beckham Group, a local real estate firm that’s relocating from 2198 NE Stephens St. to 625 SE Jackson St, a property valued at $157,380, according to Douglas County records.

The building, once home to Gallery Northwest, sits among other long-standing downtown businesses including Alexander’s Greek Cuisine and Heroes Haven.

CEO Anthony Beckham said the company has purchased the building outright and may expand into the neighboring 627 SE Jackson St. unit, formerly occupied by Harcourt Integrity Team Real Estate Services.

“We’ll just be moving into the unit that Gallery Northwest was in before they moved across the street,” Beckham said. “Harcourt’s moved out, so we’re actively looking at filling that unit as well, but that’s to be determined.”

Construction on the new space is set to begin this month, with Beckham noting that the office is “about a week out” from being structurally complete.

“We’re still far from moved in as far as furnished or anything, but construction-wise, it’s looking pretty put together,” he said.

Both The Majestic Theater and The Beckham Group mark significant updates to downtown Roseburg’s business landscape, signs of steady revitalization and new energy in the heart of the city.
