Roseburg police arrested multiple people Jan. 28–29 in cases tied to forged checks, warrants, prohibited camping/littering near waterways, trespass, and theft. Several were lodged at Douglas County Corrections, while others were cited and released.

Nathaniel James Randolph, 43, arrested after police reported he altered a check from $29 to $929 and cashed it at Fred Meyer

Details: Randolph was paid by check from the Rosewood Inn for $29. Randolph admitted to officers that he altered the check and cashed it for $929 at the Fred Meyer customer service desk.

Prohibited Camping
Craig Aaron Bailey, 35, arrested and Ronny Raye Wathan, 38, cited after officers reported a restricted-area campsite cluttered with garbage

Details: Wathan and Bailey were found camping in a restricted area in accordance with the city's “TIME, PLACE & MANNER” guidelines. The campsite was cluttered with garbage such as food items and old tarps. Officer Chavez along with work crew cleaned the area of the trash.
Disposition: Bailey was lodged at Corrections. Wathan was cited and released on scene.
Warrant
Michael Chad Rushing, 52, arrested after officers reported a trespassing complaint and he was found to have a parole-violation warrant

Details: Officers contacted Rushing regarding a trespassing complaint, and he was found to have a valid warrant for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed and he was taken into custody.
Disposition: Rushing was lodged at Corrections.
Warrant
Lonnie James Coleman, 45, arrested after officers reported he was contacted on the bicycle path and had a municipal warrant

Details: Coleman was contacted on the bicycle path because he had the aforementioned warrant for his arrest. He was arrested on his warrant.

Michael Lee Hatton, 40, arrested after officers reported he was at the Roseburg Police Department and his parole officer authorized a detainer

Details: Officers learned Hatton was at the Roseburg Police Department and had prior knowledge he was wanted by his PO. PO was contacted and authorized a detainer. Hatton was taken into custody and transported to Corrections.

Prohibited Camping
Jessica Lynn Gater, 39, and Michael Grant Valdez, 38, arrested after officers reported a fenced storage-area camp with trash within 100 yards of Newton Creek

Details: While assisting with camp cleanups, Valdez and Gater were found camping behind the Goodwill complex on NW Stewart Parkway inside a fenced in storage area. The area was covered in trash including trash scattered outside the fenced area within 100 yards of Newton Creek, which runs along Charles Gardner Park and behind Goodwill. Gater and Valdez both had Prohibited Camping convictions that elevated Prohibited Camping to criminal. Gater had two prior convictions, and Valdez had three prior convictions. Additionally, Gater had a Roseburg municipal warrant for failure to appear on a prohibited camping citation.
Disposition: Gater and Valdez were taken to Corrections and lodged on the above-mentioned crimes.
Trespass
Emmalea Aaron Crane, 22, arrested after police reported she remained on Howard Johnson property after being trespassed and her parole officer wanted her detained

Details: Emmalea remained on Howard Johnson property after being trespassed on 1/27/26, and a few hours prior to officers contacting her. She was intoxicated and her PO wanted her detained for being intoxicated and committing a new crime.
Disposition: She was lodged at Corrections.
Warrant
Rita Marie Raines, 41, arrested after officers reported they contacted her outside City Hall and confirmed a warrant for prohibited camping

Details: Officers contacted Raines outside of City Hall and knew she had a warrant for Prohibited Camping. Raines said she knew she had the warrant and she was walking to Corrections to turn herself in. The warrant was confirmed and she was detained without incident.
Disposition: Raines was lodged at Corrections.
Theft
Tabitha Gail Jones, 40, arrested after police reported a theft at WinCo and her probation officer wanted her detained

Details: Officers responded to a reported theft at Winco where Tabitha had been detained by asset protection. Tabitha admitted to stealing over $200.00 of merchandise and told officers she was on probation. Her probation officer wanted her detained for committing the new crime and she was without incident.
Disposition: Tabitha was transported to Douglas County Corrections where she was lodged.
Methamphetamine
Tyler Lee Reed, 40, cited and released after officers reported watching him smoke methamphetamine and finding 0.8 grams during a search

Details: Tyler was contacted by officers after watching him smoke methamphetamine from a pipe. Tyler was detained and admitted to smoking methamphetamine. During the search, officers found 0.8 grams of methamphetamine.
Disposition: Tyler was cited and released on scene.
DWS-M
Lakiesa Latoya Pierce, 40, cited and released after officers reported she drove into a parking lot while her license was suspended at the misdemeanor level

Details: Officers were already at the Fox Den regarding a separate incident when Lakiesa drove into the parking lot and parked directly in front of them. Officers reported they knew her license was suspended at the misdemeanor level and issued a citation on scene. The business owner told officers they were fine with her vehicle remaining on scene.
Disposition: Lakiesa was cited and released on scene.
