U.S. Bank to Close Drain Branch in January 2026
U.S. Bank will close its Drain branch on January 15, 2026. Officials say the move reflects a shift toward digital banking, with no disruption to customer accounts. The nearest branch will be in Cottage Grove. U.S. Bank also plans to close its Mill City branch days earlier on January 12.
DRAIN, Ore. — The U.S. Bank branch in Drain will permanently close on January 15, 2026, according to company officials.
Regional Communications Manager Jake Holtrop confirmed that customers were notified of the upcoming closure earlier in October. He emphasized that the change will not affect client accounts or access to banking services.
“We are proud to have served our clients at the Drain branch and hope that we can continue to serve the community at our other locations,” Holtrop said in a written statement.
Once the branch closes, the nearest full-service location will be at 29 N. 7th Street in Cottage Grove. Holtrop noted that U.S. Bank customers are increasingly turning to digital and mobile banking options, prompting the company to reassess its physical locations.
“As we evolve along with our clients, we are re-evaluating our physical footprint and, in some instances, consolidating branch locations,” he said. “Although we are closing some branches, we continue to open and enhance others, as well as rapidly improve our digital capabilities.”
Customers can continue banking through the U.S. Bank Mobile App, online at usbank.com, or via 24-hour phone banking at 800-872-2657.
Drain is not the only Oregon community affected. U.S. Bank’s Mill City branch is also set to close just days earlier, on January 12, 2026. After that, Mill City customers will need to visit the nearest branch in Stayton, about 17 miles away.
Holtrop acknowledged that branch closures can be difficult for both customers and employees. “We understand the closure of any branch is a disruption, and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved,” he said.
This marks the latest in a series of branch closures across the region. U.S. Bank’s downtown Roseburg branch, located at 619 SE Main Street, shut down in April 2024. That property sold the same month for $500,000, according to the Douglas County Assessor’s Office, but remains vacant.
Records also show that the building housing the Drain branch at 229 N. First Street is still owned by U.S. National Bank of Portland, which purchased it from Drain Cable & Appliance, Inc. in 1967 for $10. U.S. Bank has not yet announced future plans for the property.
