Umpqua National Forest to Lift Emigrant Fire Emergency Closure
Umpqua National Forest will lift the Emigrant Fire Emergency Closure on Friday, reopening trails like Upper Lemolo Falls and Skipper Lakes. Roads 2610 and 6000-700 remain closed. A related closure is still in effect on the Willamette National Forest.

ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Umpqua National Forest announced it will rescind the Emigrant Fire Emergency Closure Order on Friday (9/26/25), reopening several popular recreation sites that were off-limits during the wildfire response.
The closure was originally issued to protect both the public and firefighters as crews worked on the Emigrant Fire. While the order is being lifted, some access restrictions remain in place. Officials confirmed that National Forest Service Road 2610 and NFSR 6000-700, both near the fire’s perimeter, will stay closed for safety reasons.
With the change, hikers and visitors will once again have access to trails and trailheads such as the Upper Lemolo Falls Trail #1476 and the Skipper Lakes Trailhead.
Forest officials noted that a related closure tied to the Emigrant Fire is still in effect on the Willamette National Forest, and visitors should check that forest’s website for the latest updates.
