Arrest Made in Connection With Fatal Shooting in Coos Bay
One person is dead following a shooting in Coos Bay Sunday afternoon. Police say a suspect is in custody, and the Coos County Major Crime Team is leading the investigation. The victim has been identified as 39-year-old David Orr.
COOS BAY, Ore. — One person is dead following a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Coos Bay, according to the Coos Bay Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting shortly before 2 p.m. on December 28 in the area of the Staples store on Newmark Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
The individual was later identified as David Orr, 39, of Coos Bay. Emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said a suspect vehicle was located a short time later by an officer with the North Bend Police Department. Two individuals were detained, and one person was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The Coos County Major Crime Team has assumed responsibility for the investigation. The identity of the suspect will be released following arraignment.
The Coos Bay Police Department acknowledged assistance from partner agencies, including the North Bend Police Department, Coos Bay Fire Department, and Bay Cities Ambulance.
The investigation remains ongoing.
