BB Gun Discovery Triggers Brief Security Measure at Roseburg High School
Roseburg High School briefly entered a “Secure” status after a BB gun was found near campus Friday afternoon. Police confirmed there was no credible threat, but students were kept inside as a precaution amid ongoing protests. The situation was resolved and classes dismissed as scheduled.

Students at Roseburg High School were placed in a temporary “Secure” status Friday afternoon after a BB gun was discovered near campus, according to a notice from Roseburg Schools.
The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. after staff were alerted to a BB gun found in the grass under some weeds just west of the Holiday Inn, near the school. Roseburg Police responded promptly, seized the item, and confirmed there was no credible threat to students or staff. School Resource Officers and the security team also conducted a thorough search of the area.
Out of caution, administrators chose to keep students inside while the situation was investigated. Officials noted that their main concern was the possibility that someone carrying what appeared to be a firearm could be seen during ongoing student walkouts and protests taking place in front of the school.
The precautionary security status was lifted once the investigation concluded, and students were released on schedule. School officials confirmed that bus routes and after-school activities continued as normal.
The district thanked students, parents, and staff for their patience and cooperation during the brief safety measure.
