Christmas Tree Permits Now on Sale for Umpqua National Forest

Christmas tree permits for the Umpqua National Forest are now available online and at local vendors. Permits cost $5 per household and are valid only on UNF land. Fourth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass can receive a free permit. More details are available on Recreation.gov.

Christmas Tree Permits Now on Sale for Umpqua National Forest

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — Christmas tree permits for the Umpqua National Forest are now available for the 2025 holiday season. Families can get their permits online, at Forest Service offices, or at several participating local businesses.

Online permits can be purchased through Recreation.gov by searching for “Umpqua National Forest Christmas Tree Permits.” Shoppers should read all rules and instructions before buying. Online permits must be printed and carried with you. They are valid only on Umpqua National Forest land. Each household may buy one $5 permit. Online purchases include a $2.50 service fee.

Traditional paper permits are also available in person at Umpqua National Forest offices and many local vendors. These shops offer a range of hours, including evenings and weekends. All permits, online or paper, are valid only on UNF land. They do not allow cutting on private, state, or other federal lands.

Fourth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass can receive one free Christmas tree permit by entering their pass or voucher number during the online checkout process. A $2.50 reservation fee still applies.
