Crater Lake Reaches 150 Inches of Snow, Deepest Level This Winter
February 18, 2025

As of today, Crater Lake National Park has recorded its deepest snowpack of the season, reaching 150 inches (12.5 feet). This marks the highest accumulation so far this winter, providing a significant boost to the region's snowpack and water reserves.
Crater Lake, known for its heavy annual snowfall, typically receives over 450 inches per year, making it one of the snowiest locations in the Pacific Northwest. The recent storm systems have contributed to the rising levels, bringing fresh powder and ideal conditions for winter recreation such as snowshoeing, skiing, and sightseeing.
According to meteorologists, additional snowfall is expected in the coming weeks, with forecasts predicting another 6-12 inches by the end of the month. While this increase benefits the local ecosystem and water supply, park officials urge visitors to prepare for extreme winter conditions and check road closures before traveling.
