DINT raid in Oakland yields firearms, narcotics, suspected stolen property

OAKLAND, Ore. — The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) reported seizing firearms, narcotics, cash, and suspected stolen merchandise during a Monday evening search of a guest residence in the 400 block of Wells Road, according to court records.

Detectives arrested Caleb Morgan Plueard, 42, and Erica Susan Hewlett, 44, around 7:30 p.m. Both were booked into the Douglas County Jail and arraigned Tuesday in Circuit Court.

Investigators documented 15 firearms in the residence. One was described as a shotgun with a barrel shorter than Oregon law allows. Another shotgun had been reported stolen. Two additional firearms lacked serial numbers. A separate pistol, found in a vehicle rented earlier the same day, had a suppressor attached. Detectives also reported locating two more suppressors, ammunition, and 10 knives they say were prohibited for Plueard to possess based on his criminal history; the knives opened by spring, switch, or centrifugal force.

The inventory of seized narcotics included 159 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 18.9 grams of suspected fentanyl, 6.5 units of Xanax, and about 0.5 gram of psilocybin mushrooms. DINT also reported seizing $1,209 in cash. Detectives estimated the wholesale value of the methamphetamine at roughly $150 per ounce and placed the fentanyl’s wholesale value at about $800.

During the search, detectives noted a large quantity of merchandise and property inside the residence, outside, and in a nearby shed. Court records say some items bore names or initials of other people, some had drilled locks, and some were still in original packaging.

On Tuesday morning, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office charged Plueard with unlawful possession, manufacture, and delivery of methamphetamine; unlawful possession and manufacture of fentanyl (Schedule II); unlawful possession of a short-barreled firearm or silencer; and three counts of felon in possession of a firearm. The drug counts include a commercial drug offense enhancement, citing factors such as at least $300 in cash, possession of a firearm, packaging materials, and quantities above 8 grams of methamphetamine or 3 grams of fentanyl.

Hewlett was charged with unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of fentanyl (Schedule II). Jail records list Hewlett’s bail at $15,000 and Plueard’s bail at $70,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
