Douglas County Man Charged in Roseburg Assault Case

ROSEBURG, Ore. – A 26-year-old Douglas County man is facing multiple criminal charges following an alleged incident at a residence in Roseburg.
Izaiah Alvarez has been charged with four crimes, including first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse, according to court records filed in Douglas County Circuit Court.
A probable cause affidavit states that Alvarez had been visiting the home of the alleged victim and her fiancé. The three had reportedly consumed alcohol together earlier in the evening. According to the affidavit, Alvarez left the apartment at one point, and the couple later went to sleep on the couch with their children.
The woman later reported to police that she woke up to find Alvarez allegedly assaulting her. The affidavit states the victim was asleep and intoxicated at the time.
Alvarez told police that the encounter was consensual. He is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
As of now, no plea has been entered, and the case remains under investigation. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
