Drain Couple Found Deceased After SUV Crash in Remote Tyee Area
A couple from Drain was found deceased after their SUV rolled down a steep slope in the Tyee area. The crash site was located behind a locked Weyerhaeuser gate. Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor, and neither victim was wearing a seatbelt.

A tragic discovery was made Saturday in the remote Tyee region, where a couple from Drain was found deceased near a Bureau of Land Management road.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the report came in around 5:00 p.m. when someone scouting for bear season came across the bodies of two individuals near a clear-cut area behind a locked Weyerhaeuser gate, off BLM Road 24-8-35.1 in the Brush Creek area.
Deputies arriving at the scene found the terrain to be extremely steep with several sharp turns. Evidence at the site indicated that an older SUV had veered off the road and tumbled down the slope.
The victims were identified as 55-year-old Anthony Forbes and 50-year-old Mandi Forbes. Authorities noted signs that alcohol may have contributed to the crash, and neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
Douglas County Search and Rescue remained on scene Saturday night, and the bodies were recovered the following day.
