The first annual Umpqua Valley Food Rally collected 2,176 pounds of food and raised $2,128 to support families across Douglas County. Planned in just three weeks, the event drew strong community turnout and organizers say it will now become an annual tradition.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — A new community tradition may have just been born. The first annual Umpqua Valley Food Rally exceeded expectations, raising $2,128 and collecting 2,176 pounds of food to help families throughout Douglas County.
What makes the accomplishment even more impressive is how quickly it came together - organizers planned the entire event in just three weeks. Volunteers, staff, community partners, and local residents all joined forces for a one-day push to support neighbors facing food insecurity.
In Roseburg on Thursday, the inaugural food rally unfolded with steady crowds, enthusiastic donors, and a strong spirit of giving.
"I am so proud of our community and the way we came together to support families across Douglas County,”
said Executive Director Jenn Reida.
“The warmth, collaboration, and kindness shown throughout the day created something truly special."
Organizers say the overwhelming turnout has already inspired them to keep the momentum going. The Umpqua Valley Food Rally is now expected to become an annual event, with hopes of expanding reach and impact in the years ahead.
