FRIDAY DEADLINE TO ENTER ARBOR DAY PHOTO CONTEST
KQEN News Radio

Friday at 5:00 p.m. is the deadline to enter the Roseburg Parks and Recreation 2025 Arbor Day Photo Contest.
A city release said there is still time left to grab a camera and explore the beauty of Roseburg’s tree – including the great variety found in city parks.
Roseburg Recreation Coordinator Tracy David said, “Spring is the perfect time to go tree hunting in Roseburg. The trees are blooming, everything’s turning green again, and it should make for some really interesting photos”. David said, “Since Roseburg is a designated Tree City USA, there are many to choose from”.
The top three photos will be announced and showcased on Arbor Day – on Friday, April 25th, on the Roseburg Parks and Recreation Facebook page. The winning photos will also be highlighted in the City Connection e-newsletter later this spring.
Anyone is eligible to submit one photo taken in the greater Roseburg area which depicts a tree or grove of trees. Be sure to include the photo location in the entry. Adobe Photoshop or other editing software cannot be used to alter the appearance or reality of the photo.
For details on the contest and the online submission form, go here.
NORTH CREEK TRAIL REOPENS AT SOUTH SLOUGH RESERVE
KQEN News Radio

The popular North Creek Trail at the South Slough Reserve near Charleston has reopened to the public, as of Friday.
Public Involvement Coordinator Deborah Rudd said earlier a large tree had fallen between bridges 7 and 8, causing significant damage to the trail. Rudd said the impact uprooted a large section of the path, rendering it impassable.
Thanks to the quick and dedicated work of South Slough maintenance staff, Mike Allman and Daniel Fenn, the trail was cleared and repaired. The team successfully removed the massive root wad and restored the damaged section, ensuring safe access for all visitors.
Rudd said South Slough Reserve trails are open daily from dawn to dusk.
