Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury reached 74 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Thursday. That was well below the record high for April 17th, which is 89 degrees, set in 2016.
Generally dry conditions are expected in the Roseburg area through the end of April.
COUNTY SHIFTING INTO NEXT STAGE OF LONG-TERM RECOVERY FROM FLOOD EVENT
KQEN News Radio

Douglas County is shifting into the next stage of long-term recovery from the March 2025 flood event.
A county release said the board of commissioners and the Douglas County Emergency Management Department would like to thank the community for their continued resilience and collaboration as residents move forward.
Actions 4, 5 and 6 will provide critical tools for cleanup, repair and rebuilding:
Action #4 – Clean Up Safely & Prevent Mold:
Mold can cause serious health issues after a flood. Learn how to clean hard surfaces properly, identify unsalvageable materials, and find trusted local restoration services.
Action #5 – Explore Cash Incentives & Rebates:
Those who are replacing HVAC, insulation or water heaters may qualify for cash rebates through the Energy Trust of Oregon to offset the cost of energy-efficient upgrades after flood damage.
Action #6 – Need Insurance or Legal Help? Advocacy is available:
Residents who are struggling with a denied claim or legal questions can receive free legal aid and insurance advocacy to help them navigate their recovery with confidence.

STARBUCKS COMING TO SOUTH DOUGLAS COUNTY THIS SUMMER
KQEN News Radio

Starbucks is coming to south Douglas County this summer.
A company spokesperson told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the new location is near the intersection of Pruner Road and Interstate 5. That’s in the Tri-City area. The new building is over 2,400 square feet and will employ approximately 15 partners.
The store joins the company’s locations in Roseburg and Sutherlin. There are two additional Starbucks outlets in Roseburg – at Fred Meyer and at Safeway, which operate separately.
TABBITHA LAYMAN NAMED FEMALE FIRST CITIZEN FOR 2024
KQEN News Radio

Earlier this week the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce named Tabbitha Layman as the Female First Citizen for 2024.
Layman was honored as part of the chamber’s monthly luncheon event at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Monday.
Chamber Board Chair Jami Seal said Layman clearly possesses the characteristics of what it means to be a First Citizen, “…Commitment to Roseburg and Douglas County through volunteerism and active involvement, and the generous giving of her time and talents to make our community better”. Seal said, “She has been doing just that for nearly 20 years”.
Information from the chamber said that Layman’s volunteer involvement has included being a chamber board member, Project Leadership graduate and presenter, serving on the board of Roseburg Rotary Festival of Lights Committee and now chairing the event as well, along with being on the board of directors of Greater Douglas United Way, a CASA advocate, and on the board for the Music Off Central concert series in Sutherlin.
While honorees are normally named during the chamber’s annual awards dinner, Layman was out of the country when this year’s event took place last month. She didn’t know she had won until her name was announced at the luncheon. Layman joins longtime media professional Dan Bain in being one of this year’s two first citizens. Bain received the Male First Citizen of 2024 award in March.
The chamber has been giving out first citizen awards since 1954.
ROSEBURG EASTER EGG DROP HAPPENING SATURDAY
KQEN News Radio

The City of Roseburg’s First Easter Egg Drop is Saturday.
A city release said Roseburg Parks and Recreation is teaming up with the Roseburg Fire Department to offer this free, family-friendly event at 9:00 a.m. at the Stewart Park softball field on Northwest Stewart Parkway.
RFD personnel will drop 4,000 colorful empty plastic Easter eggs from a ladder truck in the field, which is between the YMCA of Douglas County and Champion Car Wash field.
Kids will be challenged to collect one egg of each color to exchange for a prize or candy provided by Roseburg Parks, Roseburg Fire, Roseburg Public Library, and local community partners such as the Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley, Cascade Community Credit Union, Umpqua Health Alliance and the YMCA.
The release said with any luck, the Easter Bunny might arrive aboard RFD’s 1934 antique Chevrolet fire engine in time to pose for photos with kids.
