TILLER FIRE CREWS EXTINGUISH STRUCTURE FIRE EARLY SUNDAY

KQEN News Radio

Crews with the Tiller Rural Fire Protection District dealt with a structure fire early on Sunday.

Information from the district said at approximately 1:00 a.m. Tiller fire fighters, along with crews from the Milo, Days Creek, Canyonville, Riddle, Tri-City and Myrtle Creek Fire districts were dispatched for a reported house fire in the 5000 block of South Umpqua Road in Tiller.

While units were responding, dispatchers advised that the house on fire was believed to be vacant. Crews immediately began fire attack and started making good progress knocking down the fire. While crews were fighting the fire, command was confirming that the structure was vacant, and no one was inside.

With additional resources from the other departments starting to arrive, crews began making even more progress and set up a water supply. It was determined that no one was inside. The fire was quickly controlled and extinguished.

Fire crews remained on scene for multiple hours overhauling the fire. Tiller Fire cleared the scene by around 7:00 a.m. The cause of the fire is believed to have been an electrical issue. Due to the quick response with assistance from other departments, crews were able to limit the amount of damage to the structure. It appears the fire had started in a small cabin or shed that was next to the main structure. The fire spread to the main structure before crews arrived.

9 apparatus and 18 volunteers responded to the fire.

AVIVA HEALTH WOMEN’S AND REPRODUCTIVE CLINIC RELOCATING/EXPANDING

KQEN News Radio

Aviva Health has announced that effective June 23rd, its Women’s and Reproductive Health Clinic will relocate to 2460 Northwest Stewart Parkway, Suite 240 in Roseburg, the current site of Accent on Women’s Health.

An Aviva Release said the move coincides with the addition of Dr. Donald Wonderly, and Mitzi Thompson, Family Nurse Practitioner, who are joining Aviva’s Women’s and Reproductive Health Team. Both providers previously practiced at Accent on Women’s Health, which will close on June 22nd.

Aviva Health Director of Specialty Services Brittany Shaver said, “This transition allows us to expand access to care while maintaining continuity for patients familiar with this location”. Shaver said, “Aside from the change in address, Aviva Health patients will continue to see the providers they know and trust. The same is true for Accent patients who choose to transfer their care to Aviva Health – they’ll be cared for by the same providers with whom they have established relationships”.

The release said the larger space is crucial to Aviva Health’s goal of expanding women’s and reproductive health services in Douglas County, and its close proximity to CHI Mercy Medical Center’s Family Birthplace is an added benefit.

Patients wishing to continue with Dr. Wonderly or Thompson must complete a transfer of care form, available at: www.aviva.health, or by contacting Aviva at 672-9596.
