Poor to moderate overnight upper slope and ridge relative humidity recoveries especially from the Cascades/Siskiyous eastward, but also the coast range mountains tonight and again Friday night.
Very low humidity with near critical winds in portions of fire zones 280, 281, 622 Friday afternoon and evening.
Isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and possibly into Saturday night, with thunderstorm chances possibly increasing Sunday.
DISCUSSION: Hot and dry weather continues into this weekend. Overnight RH recoveries will be poor to moderate over most of the interior through at least tonight. Some breezy east winds will occur in southwest Oregon and western Siskiyou County as well. Monsoonal moisture will increase which could result in isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening east of the Cascades. Thunderstorms could linger overnight Saturday. Thunderstorm chances will increase Sunday into early next week, mainly along and east of the Cascades and northern California.

HEAT ADVISORY FRIDAY 1:00 P.M. THROUGH SUNDAY 8:00 P.M.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from Friday at 1:00 p.m. through Sunday at 8:00 p.m. for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said hot conditions with high temperatures of 95 to 104 degrees are expected. Overnight low temperatures will be between 55 and 65 degrees. The Advisory area applies to the valleys of central and eastern Douglas County and includes Roseburg, Glendale, Steamboat, Elkton, Myrtle Creek, Umpqua, Winchester, Green, Drain, Sutherlin, Toketee Falls and Canyonville.
Forecasters in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that Roseburg could see at or near record high temperatures for the date Friday through Sunday.
Hot temperatures may cause heat related illnesses.
Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
VINTAGE STREET FAIR HAPPENING SATURDAY IN OAKLAND

Oakland Economic Development is hosting a Vintage Street Fair on Saturday.
It will take place in downtown Oakland from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The event includes antiques, jewelry, home décor, clothing and more. Food, wine, and treats will be on sale. The family-friendly day includes face painting and other kids’ activities.
Live music on the Pavilion Stage will include the Sunny Sky Boys, Moment’s Notice, and Tory Rose. Buskers will perform on Locust Street.

COOLING RESOURCES CENTER OPEN AFTERNOONS THROUGH TUESDAY

Due to an extended period of time with temperatures over 95 degrees, a Cooling Resource Center is open afternoons through Tuesday to help those in need escape the heat.
Offered by the Schlueter-Greenwalt Foundation, it is being held at Saint George Episcopal Church on Southeast Cass Avenue in downtown Roseburg.
The center has water, air-conditioning, sunscreen, ice packs, ice, pet food, hygiene supplies, and more. Hours are 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Those who want to help can check in starting at 2:30 p.m.

RIVERBEND LIVE! WITH BONUS SHOW FRIDAY NIGHT

Riverbend Live! has a bonus show to wrap up its 29th season on Friday night.
Chris O’Leary will take the stage at 7:00 pm. in Winston’s Riverbend Park. O’Leary is known as a soulful vocalist, dynamic harmonica master and gifted songwriter, performing blues and roots music. O’Leary appeared at Riverbend Live! last year.
Attendees can bring their blanket or chair along with dinner, including water, wine or beer. Food vendors will have meal and beverage options as well.
To get to Riverbend Live! take Interstate 5 to exit 119 and follow the signs to Winston.

OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY EVENT HAPPENING SATURDAY

Adapt Integrated Health Care, HIV Alliance and Douglas Public Health Network are hosting Douglas County’s 3rd annual International Overdose Awareness Day event on Saturday.
It will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Stewart Park Pavillion in Roseburg. The free family-friendly event brings the community together to honor the lives lost to overdose, support those in recovery and raise awareness about prevent and hope.
This year’s theme is “One Big Family” to reflect the importance of connection, compassion and community support in responding to the overdose crisis. Residents are welcome to attend whether they have experienced personal loss, are in recovery, or simply want to be part of the solution.
Highlights of the event will include:
- Free community barbecue
- Remembrance activities
- Open mic segment for personal stories, tributes, and messages of hope
- Naloxone training
- Community resources
- Live music

ROSEBURG’S SPLASH PAD OPEN FOR JUST OVER A WEEK MORE

Roseburg’s splash pad is open for just over one more week.
A city release said the Fir Grove Park Splash Pad is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to dusk through Labor Day.
The interactive spray park offers a fun oasis where people of all ages can beat the summertime heat.
Shade is limited, so Roseburg Parks and Recreation staff encourages residents to bring water, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. The splash pad is located just off West Harvard Avenue, behind the Umpqua Valley Arts Center.

FORT UMPQUA DAYS HAPPENING SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NEXT WEEKEND

Fort Umpqua Days are happening next weekend on Saturday and Sunday, August 30th and 31st.
A release from the Elkton Community Education Center said the historic fort will be buzzing with hands-on activities and living history demonstrations for the whole family. Inside the fort complex, kids can race through the obstacle course or try their hand with quill pen and ink. Visitors can explore the granary building to learn about the fur trade era, how trappers bartered for supplies, and watch skilled woodworkers in action.
The grounds will be filled with interactive encampments, each offering a glimpse into life in the early 1800s. From fiber arts and quillwork to trapping skills, Indian sign language and Chinook Trade jargon, every camp shares a different piece of frontier know-how.
The event includes live music on the greenhouse patio, other demonstrations and old-fashioned fun.
