WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THROUGH 10:00 P.M. FRIDAY IN MOUNTAIN AREAS

Article by KQEN News Radio

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. Friday for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said snow is expected for elevations above 4,500 feet in the Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. Additional accumulations of 3 to 9 inches are forecast with winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour over high and exposed terrain.

The Advisory area includes Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Howard Prairie. It applies to mountain passes on highways 140, 138, 230, 46 and 58.

Forecasters said drivers should plan on slippery road conditions and delays in the trip. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes. Wet slushy roads could turn icy.

Final Weekend for WildLights at Wildlife Safari

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

Families from across Douglas County are getting one last chance to experience the holiday season at WildLights, the annual festive event at Wildlife Safari, as it enters its final weekend.

WildLights transforms Safari Village into a glowing winter attraction, inviting visitors to enjoy a walk-through experience filled with illuminated displays, seasonal décor, and close-up encounters with some of the park’s animal residents.

Guests stroll along light-lined pathways at their own pace, taking in festive scenes and stopping at interactive stations throughout the route. Early in the walk, visitors may spot animals such as cheetahs or flamingos, adding a unique wildlife element to the holiday tradition.

Throughout the evening, families can warm up with hot cocoa, decorate gingerbread cookies, and stop by the café.

One of the most popular attractions is the Candy Cane Caboose, a festive train ride that carries guests through part of the park, offering a cozy way to enjoy the holiday lights together. Another highlight is Santa’s Workshop, where visitors can shop for one-of-a-kind gifts created by Wildlife Safari’s animal residents and take photos with Santa and one of the park’s Animal Ambassadors.

WildLights runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 5–7, 12–14, 19–21, and 26–28, rain or shine. Tickets are required for entry, and standard drive-through admission does not apply during the event.

Tickets include hot cocoa and cookies, animal encounters, rides on the Candy Cane Caboose, and a photo opportunity with an Animal Ambassador.

WET ROADWAY LEADS TO ROLLOVER CRASH ON WEDNESDAY MORNING

Article by KQEN News Radio

A wet roadway led to a rollover crash on Interstate 5 northbound early Wednesday morning.

A report from the Oregon State Police said at 3:45 a.m. troopers were called out to the wreck near the Edenbower Boulevard Exit 126. A minivan was northbound in the left lane of travel when it hydroplaned. It was raining heavily at the time, and the roadway had standing water on it. The driver was traveling too fast for the current conditions and lost control of his vehicle. The minivan exited onto the right shoulder and struck the embankment, causing it to roll. The minivan came to rest on its tires on the right shoulder facing a southeasterly direction.

No injuries were reported. The report does not indicate if any citations were issued
