DOUGLAS COUNTY MORNING NEWS
AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4:00 P.M. WEDNESDAY

An Air Stagnation Advisory is in effect until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, along with much of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said poor air quality will continue through Wednesday. This is due to an inversion and stagnant air conditions near the surface that will trap pollutants.
The Advisory area includes valley locations west of the Cascades in Douglas, Josephine and Jackson counties and east of the Cascades in Klamath and Lake counties.
Forecasters said poor air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems. Those with respiratory illness should follow their physician’s advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.
ROSEBURG RESIDENTIAL LEAF PICKUP PROGRAM WRAPPING UP SOON

Roseburg Public Works leaf collection service is about to wrap up.
Information from the City of Roseburg website said it will continue until the first week of January.
Crews follow a cyclical, systematic route to help residents with leaf disposal and to ensure that leaf collection is provided in an effective, cost-controlled program that helps to keep leaves out of storm drains, creeks and rivers.
Residents must pile leaves neatly on the edge of their property, or in the street in front of their home and away from the curb prior to pick up.
- Leaf piles should be free of debris such as branches and rocks, and not piled near parked vehicles
- Keep street gutters, ditches, bike lanes, and catch basins free of leaves
- Residents who pile leaves in the city’s right-of-way are responsible for keeping drainage structures clear of leaves during rainstorms until leaves can be picked up

The Douglas County Landfill is partnering with the company to provide free disposal of collected trees.

- On the corner of Northwest Calkins Road and Northwest Cherry Street
- At Totem Market on Northeast Stephens Street in Winchester

- At the corner of Northeast Fulton Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard
- At Bobalou Billiards on Northeast Stephens Street
- On Southeast Rose Street by the former Safeway location
- Redeemer’s Fellowship, in the former cinema parking lot on West Harvard Avenue
Only natural Christmas trees can be placed in the drop-off boxes
Items not accepted include ornaments, lights, tinsel or flocked trees, plastic bags, tree stands, pet waste or other garbage. Improper materials may jeopardize the program in future years.
