DOUGLAS COUNTY MORNING NEWS
ROSEBURG TIES RECORD LOWEST HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR JANUARY 15TH

Roseburg tied the record lowest high temperature for January 15th on Thursday.
Data from the National Weather Service in Medford said the mercury only reached 36 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport. That tied the record lowest high temperature for the date which was set in 2014. The normal high temperature for this week in January is 50 degrees. The all-time record lowest high temperature for the month of January in Roseburg is 27 degrees, which was set in 1968.
The ridge of high pressure remains in place over the region, which is leading to cold conditions and stagnant air. Forecasters said the weather pattern will likely remain in place for at least another week.
FREEZING FOG ADVISORY EXTENDED THROUGH 12:00 P.M. FRIDAY

A Freezing Fog Advisory has been extended through 12:00 p.m. Friday for central Douglas County, eastern Curry County and Josephine and Jackson counties.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said visibility of one quarter mile or less in freezing fog is expected.
Forecasters said low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY CONTINUES THROUGH 10:00 A.M. TUESDAY

An Air Stagnation Advisory continues through 10:00 a.m. Tuesday within the valleys of Douglas, Josephine and Jackson counties.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said poor air quality will continue. This is due to an inversion and stagnant air conditions near the surface that will continue to trap pollutants.
Poor air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems. Those with respiratory illness should follow their physician’s advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.
Motorists should slow down, use their headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of their vehicle.
MAINTENANCE INSPECTION TO BRIEFLY CLOSE STEWART PARK DRIVE BRIDGE

Stewart Park Drive Bridge in Roseburg will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic during a maintenance inspection on Thursday, January 22nd.
A city release said the Depression-era steel truss bridge will be closed over the South Umpqua Rive from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while a contractor with the Oregon Department of Transportation performs a maintenance inspection. The bridge may open earlier if the work is completed sooner than expected, according to the Roseburg Public Works Department.
The bridge was also inspected before reopening after a recent renovation project. However, ODOT still requires annual bridge inspections to be performed, in addition to inspections done during the rehabilitation.
The 327-foot bridge links Stewart Park to Fir Grove Park, and also to the south entrance to the Roseburg VA Medical Center.
