COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH 10:00 A.M. MONDAY

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through 10:00 a.m. Monday for much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said very cold temperatures as low as 14 degrees are expected.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County. It applies to Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford, Cave Junction and surrounding areas.

Forecasters said that frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Residents should keep pets indoors as much as possible.

AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY UNTIL 12:00 P.M. THURSDAY

An Air Stagnation Advisory is in effect through 12:00 p.m. Thursday for much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a strong inversion and stagnant air conditions near the surface will trap pollutants possibly leading to poor air quality.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County.

Forecasters said poor air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems.

ROSEBURG WARMING CENTER ACTIVATED FOR MONDAY NIGHT

The United Community Action Network’s Roseburg Warming Center has been activated for Monday night.

Warm meals, shelter and resources will be provided. The facility continues to be at the James D. Myers Activity Center at 990 West Stanton Street.

Check-in is from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Check-out Tuesday is from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. with coffee available.

ZONTA DOUBLE DONATION DRIVE CONTINUES THROUGH FEBRUARY

The Zonta Club of Roseburg is continuing its double donation drive through the end of February.

Clean lightly used clothes can be dropped off at Cardinal Services on Northwest Stewart Parkway and at the Roseburg Public Library on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

Sunrise Enterprises will make a nominal donation to Zonta for the clean clothes. In turn, Sunrise Enterprises will benefit by having a larger selection of clothing for their retail services and continuing their goal of providing jobs and community services for those with disabilities. Therefore, it is a double donation – to both Zonta and Sunrise Enterprises.

Only clothing will be accepted. Shoes, purses and household goods cannot be donated.

Zonta is a worldwide organization celebrating over 100 years of honoring and empowering women. Locally the club works to stop human trafficking and provide a HandUp for women navigating difficult steps to improve their lives.

REPRESENTATIVE HOYLE RECEIVES SUBCOMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS

Last week, 4th District U.S. Representative Val Hoyle received her Subcommittee assignments for the 119th Congress.In the House Committee on Natural Resources, Hoyle was elected to serve as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries, in addition to an appointment to serve on the Subcommittee on Indiana and Insular Affairs.In the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Hoyle will serve on the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit and the Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment.
