Roseburg Area Morning News

COOLER MONDAY, NEAR NORMAL HIGH TEMPERATURES STARTING TUESDAY

KQEN News Radio

Monday will see clouds and cooler conditions with warming to near normal temperatures beginning Tuesday in the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that low pressure off the coast of California will lead to the change in conditions. Highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 80s for much of the week after Monday, with the potential to reach 90 degrees on Wednesday. The normal high temperature for this week in July for Roseburg is 87 degrees.

The mercury reached 84 degrees on Sunday at the Roseburg Regional Airport.

NEW FENCING BEING INSTALLED AT HAPPY TRAILS DOG PARK STARTING MONDAY

KQEN News Radio

The reopening of the Happy Tails Dog Park is about two weeks away as work to install the new fencing begins on Monday.

Information from the City of Roseburg said a contractor will work to replace 730 feet of fencing that was mangled at the park, which is a one-acre space next to Templin Beach Park on Southeast Templin Avenue.

The park has been closed since suffering severe damage from flooding by the South Umpqua River during record rainfall on Sunday, March 16th. Fencing around the park was destroyed and the flood left water and debris in the park.

Fencing reinstallation should be finished by Thursday, July 31st. The dog park will open immediately after that work is complete.

UACT SUMMER MUSIC OPENS ON THURSDAY

KQEN News Radio

Umpqua Actors Community Theatre is presenting its summer musical, “Anastasia.” beginning on Thursday night in Jacoby Auditorium at Umpqua Community College.

Based on the animated movie from 20th Century Fox, “Anastasia” is described as both a heartwarming and heart-wrenching dive into one of history’s biggest unanswered questions – what happened to Grand Duchess Anatasia Romanov? This musical transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920’s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past.

“Anastasia” explores one determined girl’s journey to find home, love and family as she discovers who she was and embraces who she is meant to be.

The production hits the stage Thursday through Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. through August 3rd. Tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for children ages 10 and under. Get tickets in advance by calling the UACT Box Office weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. at 673-2125. Tickets can also be purchased online at:  https://www.uact-theatre.com/
