HALF SHELL BEGINS 32ND SEASON TUESDAY NIGHT (Tonight)
KQEN News Radio

Music on the Half Shell begins its 32nd season on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
The weekly summer concerts are presented at Nichol’s Band Shell in Roseburg’s Stewart Park.
Half Shell begins with The Revelers performing Swamp, Pop, Cajun, Zydeco, Country and Blues, all while fusing it into a fresh high-energy sound that organizers say is entirely their own. Members of the group have worked with people like T-Bone Burnett, Linda Ronstadt, Cedric Watson and Natalie Merchant.
Attendees can choose from several food truck and dinner vendors or bring their own meal. Wine and beer are allowed at the concerts, but the use of tobacco in the City of Roseburg Parks is not. Concert goers can put out blankets ahead of time
Half Shell concerts are free to the public, thanks to a long list of sponsors. For the first time ever, this year nine concerts will take place.

MULTI-AGENCY WILDLAND FIRE TRAINING ON RESERVOIR HILL
KQEN News Radio

The City of Roseburg Fire Department, Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and Cow Creek Tribal Fire Management will be actively engaging in wildland fire training and exercises on Reservoir Hill in Roseburg on June 23rd, 25th and 27th.
An RFD release said training will take place each day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Firefighters may remain at the training location for an extended period after training has concluded for site cleanup.
The training exercises will occur on property owned by the City of Roseburg, the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians and private landowners. The live fire training will occur on three separate portions of the hillside to allow for training on each of the days. In preparation for the training exercises, firefighters will be conducting small, controlled burns on Wednesday to assist with protection on the nearby residential properties and City of Roseburg assets before the larger burns begin.
The release said the training objectives will include refresher training on wildland firefighting tactics in conjunction with local fire agencies, continued training on command-and-control procedures for multi-unit incident response and eliminating fuels to minimize the threat of an uncontrolled burn in the area.
The public is asked to stay clear of the designated training burn site. Drone operators are reminded that flying drones over the prescribed burn site is prohibited for both safety reasons and potential interference with firefighting operations.

ROSEBURG PARKS WITH WOMEN’S GOLF NIGHTS STARTING THIS WEDNESDAY
KQEN News Radio

Roseburg Parks and Recreation has “Just for Fun” golf for women on Wednesday nights, beginning this week.
A city release said women will have five opportunities to play golf and make new friends every other week at the Stewart Park Golf Course on Northwest Stewart Parkway. This year, a golf course pro will offer mini lessons at 5:00 p.m. Game play begins at 5:30 p.m. No pre-registration is needed but participants should check in at the golf course by 4:50 p.m. if they want to take the mini lesson, or by 5:20 p.m. if they just want to play golf.
People must bring their own clubs but don’t have to be an expert golfer to enjoy a round of golf. The recreational program will mix ladies together in different groups each week, so participants will have opportunities to meet and play with others at the nine-hole course. Women can be placed in a group or bring a foursome who golf together.
In addition to this Wednesday, evening golf will be held on July 2nd, 16th and 30th and August 13th. A $20 per night fee covers a greens fee, recreation fee, cart rental and mini lesson.
