OSP FISH AND WILDLIFE SEEKS HELP – UNLAWFUL TAKE OF WILD STEELHEAD

KQEN News Radio

The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person involved in the unlawful take and waste of a wild steelhead on the North Umpqua River at Amacher Park just north of Roseburg in the Winchester area.

An OSP release said wild steelhead retention is prohibited on the Umpqua system.

On Thursday, May 8th, a father and son were contacted in the parking lot at Amacher Park. A wild steelhead was later found stashed in the bushes where one of the individuals had been fishing. The individuals were not positively identified during the contact and fled the scene before the steelhead was found.

They were driving a gray or silver SUV, similar to a Toyota Highlander. They may be from the Springfield area and sometimes fish in the Dollar Hole on the Main Umpqua.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIP hotline at 800-452-7888. Senior Trooper Kyle Bachmeier can also be contacted through OSP’s Southern Command Center at 800-442-2068. Callers can remain anonymous.

ODOT HOSTING EXIT 124/125 OPEN HOUSE EVENTS

KQEN News Radio

The Oregon Department of Transportation and the City of Roseburg are working together to plan for community travel needs.

Open House events are being held to share information about the Exit 124/125 Interchange Area Management Plan and Garden Valley Corridor Plan.

For Interstate 5 exits 124 and 125, the IAMP will outline a 20-year vision for access and roadway improvements to protect the function and operations of the interchanges. The Garden Valley Corridor Plan will identify strategies for the city to improve safety, mobility, and connectivity so the corridor better serves the community’s needs now and into the future.

Together these plans will develop a set of transportation solutions and land use policy actions needed to prepare for, balance and manage transportation and land use needs over time. The planning process is expected to continue through 2025. While this plan will help guide future transportation investments in the area, no funding has been identified yet for construction.

An in-person Community Open House will take place Tuesday, June 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Ford Room of the Roseburg Public Library on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. Attendees can meet with staff to review the plan and provide their thoughts on draft concepts for the project areas.

An online open house will begin on May 22nd. The link will be posted on the project webpage: I-5 Exit 124/125 IAMP, Garden Valley Corridor Plan

Each entry reflects how young people understand and communicate issues that directly affect their peers and communities.

Adapt Prevention and Education Program Manager Sidnee Hedrick said, “This event is a powerful reminder of the creativity and compassion of our youth to bring important community conversations”. Hedrick said, “Their artwork reflects real hope, awareness, and a commitment to making a difference”.

Attendees will be able to view all contest entries, meet the student artists and vote for the People’s Choice Award. Light refreshments will be provided. All ages are welcome to attend the Art of Prevention Art Show.

SOURCE ONE SERENITY HOSTING EVENTS FOR 77TH ANNIVERSARY OF LEGISLATION

KQEN News Radio

In recognition of the 77th anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, Source One Serenity is hosting two events in Douglas County next month, to honor the service, strength and resilience of women veterans.

The Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, signed into law on June 12th, 1948, marked a historic moment by granting women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. armed forces. The Roseburg Receiver Updates

  • We are now at 14,882 members!!! Thank you all so much for being here!
  • The Roseburg Receiver Live YouTube stream will transition to a single, continuous livestream starting June 1st.
Currently, a new live feed is created every 12 hours, which can be confusing for viewers. Our goal is to provide one consistent link for uninterrupted access. Since radio transmissions are already archived separately, recording each YouTube segment is unnecessary and creates redundant files.
