SHERIFF’S OFFICE STILL SEEKING HELP IN LOCATING MISSING WOMAN
KQEN News Radio

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is still seeking help from the public as they attempt to locate 61-year-old Lori Sharman, who was reported missing Thursday afternoon.
A DCSO release said through the course of the investigation, deputies located video showing Sharman leaving her residence in the Green District on foot Wednesday night at 11:55 p.m. She did not return and was last seen walking south on Carnes Road toward Castle Avenue.
Sharman is described as 5 feet tall, 115 pounds with hazel eyes, and curly shoulder length blond hair. At the time she left, Sharman was wearing a maroon long-sleeved shirt with translucent sleeves, a black vest, cuffed blue jeans, and black and white sneakers. Sharman left her cell phone, wallet and credit/debit cards inside her residence.
DCSO said Sharman has a mental health diagnosis that may cause her to behave unpredictably. She reportedly walks with a limp.
Anyone who may have seen Sharman or who has information about her whereabouts is asked to contact DCSO at 440-4471.
7,000 VETERANS TO BE HONORED WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA
KQEN News Radio

The Douglas County Wreaths Across America committee has announced that the John Pierson Memorial Wreaths Across America event will take place on Saturday, December 13th at the Roseburg National Cemetery.
A release said this year’s ceremony will honor the legacy of United States Air Force Veteran, John Pierson whose passion project to ensure every veteran’s grave at the Roseburg National Cemetery receives a wreath every December ignited a local movement. In his memory, the event has been named after him.
There are approximately 7,000 veterans laid to rest at the Roseburg National Cemetery. The group’s goal is to place a wreath on every one of the headstones and to say each hero’s name aloud as participants remember their sacrifice, honor their service, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.
Douglas County Commissioner Chris Boice said, “John Pierson inspired us all with his dedication to our veterans. He wanted every hero remembered with a wreath, and we are committed to keeping that tradition alive”. Boice said the community’s help is needed to sponsor wreaths and to be part of the event on December 13th at 1:00 p.m. To sign up, go to: https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/pages/169419.
DOWNTOWN ROSEBURG IS GETTING DECKED OUT FOR THE HOLIDAYS
KQEN News Radio

Downtown Roseburg is getting decked out for the holidays.
A city release said last week their facilities maintenance team installed a Christmas wreath and colored string lights around the top of Roseburg City Hall and the Public Safety Center. Strands of white lights now illuminate the front window of city hall’s lobby.
Downtown businesses are also decorating before “Shop Small Saturday”, this coming Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, City Councilor Zack Weiss, in partnership with an emerging nonprofit, Destination Downtown Roseburg, installed about 30 holiday wreaths throughout downtown. Weiss and members of Garden Valley Church restrung the wreaths.
Weiss ordered 3,000 commercial-grade lights that will arrive in time to be put up on Southeast Jackson Street on Sunday, before the county’s tree lighting ceremony. The city is funding the lighting purchase after the council approved spending $5,000 on downtown lights or other equipment.
Local businesses are loaning equipment to enable Weiss and volunteers to install 6,000 feet of string lights in trees. Volunteers who want to help can email Weiss at: zweiss@roseburgor.gov or show up at the parking lot at the corner of Jackson Street and Southeast Douglas Avenue next Sunday at 7:00 a.m.
Destination Downtown Roseburg is accepting donations to buy lights that can be used next year and beyond to expand the holiday lights to Southeast Main Street, and extend the lights north up Jackson Street and past the Roseburg Public Library on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

FREE FISHING DAYS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING
KQEN News Radio

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is offering free fishing days this Friday and Saturday, right after Thanksgiving.
An ODFW release said no fishing or shellfish licenses or tags are required for those two days. All other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits, and size restrictions. Both Oregon residents and non-residents can fish for free.
ODFW will stock trout in several popular lakes in the Willamette Valley in anticipation of the event, which draws both experienced fishers and those learning the sport. This makes it a perfect excuse to spend time at a favorite river or beach. Check the ODFW Weekly Recreation Report to see the best bets for fishing, crabbing and clamming, including water levels, fishing hot spots and alerts.
