ROSEBURG, Ore. — Police say a Roseburg woman is facing charges after her 5-year-old son overdosed on methamphetamine early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the Sunshine Apartments around 2:53 a.m. after receiving reports that the child may have ingested the drug. The boy’s mother told police he had gotten into her meth stash, which she kept in her purse.

She said she gave her son two doses of Narcan after struggling to wake him and noticing irregular breathing. The child was transported to Mercy Medical Center for medical care.

The mother was arrested and booked into Douglas County Corrections on a charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.
