DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — Oregon State Police seized a large quantity of cocaine and cash following a traffic stop Sunday afternoon on Interstate 5 near Roseburg.
According to OSP, a trooper stopped a vehicle traveling southbound near milepost 153 at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2026, for a traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper learned the vehicle was a rental registered to a third party who was not present, and neither occupant had a valid driver’s license.
Based on observations made during the contact, the trooper requested assistance from an OSP drug-detection K-9 team. The K-9 alerted to the exterior of the vehicle, prompting a search.
During the search, troopers located approximately 11 pounds of cocaine and $24,000 in U.S. currency inside the vehicle.
The case was referred to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
The traffic stop was conducted as part of the Oregon State Police Domestic Highway Enforcement Initiative, which is supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program. The HIDTA program is funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and supports multi-agency drug enforcement efforts across the region.
