Summer meal sites announced for Roseburg kids: Lunchbox Express (June 23–Aug. 15) offers grab-n-go meals at various locations. School sites run July 1–30 with breakfast & lunch. Some sites require meals be eaten on site. Full schedule available.
Two Arrested Following Separate Major Drug Busts by DINT
DINT arrested two suspects in separate drug busts, seizing over 1,900 grams of meth, cocaine, mushrooms, and pills in Myrtle Creek and Sutherlin. Both face multiple charges. The investigations targeted large-scale meth distribution in Douglas County.

Sunday Becomes Hottest Day of 2025 So Far in Roseburg, Record Broken
Sunday hit 100°F in Roseburg, making it the hottest day of 2025 so far and breaking the June 8th record of 99°F set in 2015. Monday could bring another record, with a forecasted high of 98°F, surpassing the previous June 9th record of 94°F.
Douglas County Enters 2025 Fire Season: What You Need to Know
Fire season is now in effect across the Douglas District. DFPA has set Public Use Restrictions to “Moderate” and Industrial Fire Precaution Level to 1. Campfires are limited, off-road driving is restricted, and chainsaw or mowing hours are now reduced to prevent wildfire risk.
Douglas County Proclaims Nurse Appreciation Week, Honoring Local Heroes
Douglas County proclaimed June 1–8 as Nurse Appreciation Week, honoring the dedication of local nurses. Aviva Health nurses joined a celebration at the county building, with thanks to Commissioners Freeman, Kress, and Boice for recognizing their vital role in the community.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office Tactical Response, Crisis Negotiation Teams Called to Disturbance
Two men were found injured and uncooperative in a truck after a reported fight and gunshot on Melqua Rd. Deputies, negotiators, and the DCSO Tactical Team responded. A K-9 was used to apprehend one man. Two guns were found; charges are pending. Both were hospitalized for injuries.
Winston’s Fourth of July Fireworks Are Officially Back On
Winston’s 4th of July fireworks are officially back on for their 5th year! Thanks to community support and the WAID team, the celebration will light up the sky once again. A community meeting is set for June 5 at 6 PM at Riverbend Park. All are welcome to join and get involved.
