Phoenix Charter School Announces Closure Due to Illness and Staff Shortages

Phoenix Charter School of Roseburg will be closed on Friday, February 14, 2025, due to a surge in illnesses among students and staff, as well as a shortage of available personnel. The closure is intended to help curb the spread of illness and allow the school community time to recover.

• Lawson’s Field Trip: The field trip originally scheduled for Friday has been postponed. A new date will be announced once it is determined.
• Valentine’s Dance: The Valentine’s Dance, initially planned for February 14, has been rescheduled to Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
• President’s Day: The school will also be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of President’s Day.

Reason for Closure

The decision to close the school was made in response to a significant increase in student and staff absences due to illness. School administrators emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health and safety of the school community.

The school will be taking extra precautions and deep cleaning the school before students and staff return on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
