Roseburg Man Arrested Following Burglary at Vacant SE Pine Street Home

A Roseburg man was arrested after police responded to a reported burglary at a vacant SE Pine Street home. Officers found extensive interior damage exceeding $1,000. The suspect was later located nearby and faces burglary and criminal mischief charges.

ROSEBURG, Ore. — A Roseburg man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a burglary and significant property damage at a vacant residence on SE Pine Street, according to the Roseburg Police Department.

Officers responded to the home around 8 a.m. on January 6 after receiving a report that a man had been seen inside the vacant property. A person who was at the location to perform maintenance work encountered the suspect, who fled before officers arrived.

Police later determined that the interior of the home had sustained extensive damage. Officers documented multiple holes in the sheetrock, broken windows, and other unsanitary conditions inside the residence. The total damage was estimated to exceed $1,000.

Following the initial investigation, officers located a suspect nearby who matched the description provided at the scene. The man, identified as Danya Erikovich Czernowski, 34, admitted to being inside the residence and acknowledged causing some of the damage. Officers also discovered Czernowski had an outstanding warrant related to a parole violation.

Czernowski was taken into custody and charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged at the local corrections facility pending further court proceedings.
