Roseburg Man Cited After Fire and Weapon Found at Deer Creek Park Campsite
Roseburg police cited a 56 year old man after finding a fire burning inside a tent at a Deer Creek Park campsite. Officers also located a machete at the scene. The man was cited for prohibited burning and possessing prohibited weapons on city property.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — A Roseburg man was cited for multiple ordinance violations after police discovered an active fire and a prohibited weapon at a campsite in Deer Creek Park.
According to Roseburg Police, officers responded around 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 to the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street, an area commonly known as the Umpqua Greenway. At the location, officers contacted a 56 year old man staying at a makeshift campsite.
Police reported that a fire was burning inside the man’s tent. The fire was contained in a homemade fireplace constructed from a beer keg and fitted with a smokestack. Officers also located a large machete on the ground outside the tent.
The man was cited and released for prohibited burning and for possessing prohibited weapons or tools on city owned property. The machete was seized as evidence.
