ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg police arrested a man wanted in connection with a violent robbery and assault following a brief pursuit and escape attempt on Saturday (12/20/25).
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Douglas County Circuit Court, Riley Huskey, 34, attempted to evade officers by jumping from a moving vehicle. A police K-9 later tracked him to a backyard, where he was taken into custody.
Court records state Huskey is accused of robbing a man in August. Investigators allege Huskey took the victim’s clothing and personal belongings while striking him with a bullwhip. The affidavit states a woman recorded the incident while another man watched. Huskey is also accused of pointing a gun at the victim and releasing a pit bull on him before fleeing with the stolen items and the dog.
Police had been searching for Huskey since August. According to court documents, officers located him on December 20 driving a vehicle backward through an intersection on Northeast Klamath Avenue. When officers attempted a traffic stop, Huskey fled.
The pursuit ended in a church parking lot, where Huskey jumped from the moving car. The vehicle continued forward and struck a fence. Officers apprehended Huskey a short time later with the assistance of a K-9, according to the affidavit.
Huskey faces multiple charges, including two counts of first degree robbery, second degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon related to the bullwhip.
The case remains under investigation.
