Roseburg’s 2025 Fourth of July Fireworks Show Officially Canceled
Due to lack of volunteer support, the Roseburg Hometown 4th of July Fireworks Committee has officially canceled the 2025 show. The organization is seeking dedicated individuals to take over leadership for future events.

ROSEBURG, OR — After much anticipation and growing speculation, the Roseburg Hometown 4th of July Fireworks Committee (RH4JC) has officially announced that there will be no fireworks show for 2025.
The decision was not made lightly. While the organization has maintained strong community sponsorship and still holds funds in reserve, the primary issue is a lack of volunteer support.
“It’s not about the money,” the committee shared in a statement. “We have a solid foundation thanks to loyal sponsors and supporters. But without a team to do the work, we simply can’t pull it off. It takes more than two people to make this happen.”
The RH4JC is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has proudly carried the torch for many years, organizing the community’s largest Independence Day celebration. However, dwindling participation has made it increasingly difficult to manage the event. Committee members noted that while many individuals express interest in helping, consistent follow-through has been rare.
Now, the committee is offering an opportunity for a new generation of leaders to step in — with conditions. “We won’t just turn it over to anyone,” the group emphasized. “There will be an interview process, and background checks will be completed. This is about continuing a legacy the right way.”
Despite the 2025 cancellation, the committee remains hopeful. Preliminary ideas and plans are already in the works for a 2026 comeback — if the right people step up to lead.
“This is all volunteer,” the committee added. “No one makes money from this, and every single dollar goes to the show. But for it to succeed, we need dedicated people who are truly willing to put in the work.”
Those seriously interested in taking over or helping lead the future of the Roseburg fireworks event are encouraged to contact the committee directly, or reach out to longtime organizer Rob Thomas.
As the statement concluded, “This committee has been in place for a long time with an outstanding reputation. We want that legacy to continue — and we hope the community wants that too.”
