Two Teens Critically Injured in Crash Near Sutherlin

Two 17-year-old girls were critically injured in a crash near Sutherlin on March 26 after their vehicle collided with a truck towing an excavator. The teens were transferred to Portland hospitals. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and cooperated with the investigation.

Two Teens Critically Injured in Crash Near Sutherlin

SUTHERLIN, Ore. – A two-vehicle collision east of Sutherlin on Wednesday evening has left two teenagers critically injured.

The crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. on March 26, 2025, at the intersection of Nonpareil Road and Northside Road. Emergency dispatchers received multiple reports of the accident, prompting a response from Douglas County Sheriff's deputies, Sutherlin Police, and local fire and EMS personnel.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a 2009 silver Acura MDX, driven by a 17-year-old female from Oakland, was traveling southbound on Northside Road. The teen driver stopped at the intersection but then pulled into the path of an eastbound 2001 Ford F-250 pickup, which was towing an excavator on a flatbed trailer.

The driver of the Ford F-250, 32-year-old Patrick Foley of Sutherlin, attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision. Foley sustained minor injuries and was fully cooperative with investigators at the scene.

The teen driver and her 17-year-old female passenger from Sutherlin both sustained serious injuries. They were initially transported to Mercy Medical Center before being transferred to Portland-area hospitals for further treatment.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Sutherlin Police Department, Fair Oaks Fire Department, Sutherlin Fire Department, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
