WINSTON — The Winston City Council met Monday to consider two major ordinances. The council chose to table a proposal that would limit how long people can stay in RV parks. It also moved forward with an ordinance that would allow recreational marijuana facilities to operate within city limits.

Ordinance No. 75-724

Ordinance 75-724 includes several updates to the city’s zoning and animal codes. A key provision would permit recreational marijuana operations. That amendment drew the most discussion, reflecting a long-running community debate.

City staff are expected to bring the tabled RV park item back at a later meeting. The marijuana facilities ordinance will continue through the city’s approval process, with additional review and public input before any final decision.
